The music ministry at Baker Memorial UMC exists to glorify God through musical expression. This is most obvious in the Sunday morning services where our three main ensembles regularly participate in worship leadership. In addition to the weekly services, the musicians at Baker provide music for special services and events throughout the year such as the Lenten and Advent mid-week services, youth events, weddings, funerals, and the annual Strawberry Festival. While we share the common purpose of worship, we understand that different people have different musical preferences, and the diverse music program reflects this. From J.S. Bach to Chris Tomlin; from Country Western and Rock-n-Roll to choral standards and bell choir favorites, the music is sure to uplift and inspire our congregation to worship God. Anyone interested in participating in the music program should contact music director Jeffrey Thompson.

Bell Choir: Mary Jane Bartlett, Director -The Bells of Baker ring their joyful song regularly in our worship services, and provides a wonderful mini-concert on Christmas Eve each year. The ensemble consists of 12 ringers play 4 complete octaves of bells. All of the ringers are accomplished sight-readers, which allows them the opportunity to explore challenging works, all to the glory of God. The Bells practice from September through June.
Grace Dean Memorial Concert Series: Named for a former music enthusiast and member of the church, the Grace Dean Memorial Concert Series invites professional artists from the region and around the world to perform in Baker's beautiful sanctuary. Past artists have included Russian Vocal Ensemble LYRA, Manhattan Piano Trio, American Boychoir, chamber ensemble The Soul's Delight, Vocalis, Buffalo Brass Choir, and numerous other soloists and ensembles. Each season includes an organ recital to showcase Baker's spectacular E.M. Skinner pipe organ (Grace Dean loved organ music), and a program dedicated to one composer or group of composers. There are approximately 5 concerts per year, and each concert is free.
